Hey, thanks for visiting the blog of Alex Groenevelt and Steve Gaetjen’s coastal bike trek! We leave in 2 days for our trip to bike from Seattle, Washington to San Francisco, California. Our plan is to keep an online journal right here with our location, news/stories/anecdotes and pictures from our trip. Interesting things always happen when we travel places. Check back every couple of days to find out what is new! We’d also like to hear from you…feel free to leave comments.
We leave on Monday Aug 18th and arrive in Seattle at 7:30ish. A good friend of mine (of Alex) from high school lives in Roy. We’ll be starting our trip from his house in Roy. This last week we each sent ahead 40lb boxes with our bike trailers and camping gear. According to our tracking numbers, the packages arrived safely. We’re checking in the bikes on the plane with us and hoping that they don’t get crushed. We both got em boxed up today. The forecast for next week in Seattle area is rain (shocking huh?)…the adventure begins.
If all goes well, we’ll be flying home from San Francisco on Sept 4th. Please keep our families and us in your prayers during this time.

Just prayed for you this morning as you were flying out to Seattle. I’m excited for what God has in store for you on this journey. Be safe and be blessed – we’ll be checking in regularly and praying every day for both of you. Be in the moment, and ENJOY!

We are following, and are entertained by your day to day experieinces……even sometimes envious of your findings. The riding and
inclimate weather you have had of course not included. This is and will be a ” sit on my knee little one and let me tell you about an adventure that my friend and I took one time.” ha
I sent your blog to Aaron at his request. He loved to hear that you were doing this of course! He was home this past week and now off to Dubai/Abudhabi for two years…maybe home for a break every 6 mos.
Be safe, and have fun.
Love,
Wayne and Sharon
We pray for both daily!
